This is a true Fleming flash back. It is a classic 60’s spy romp, with lots of good period detail. It is fun, witty and light hearted, with just a dark side peeking out. The villain is classic Bond, monkey arm and secret lair. The action is split between France, Persia (Iran) and Russia at the hight of the cold war. If you like your spy fiction, shaken not stirred then this is for you. I would also like to point out that it is a bit of a light read, making it a millions miles away from current fiction styles.

I found this novel a bit of a trudge to read. It is all about the characters and I found them all a bit two dimensional for my tastes. You just don’t care about them. Some people will enjoy this book just because it fleshes out Glasgow a bit and that is really its only interesting feature. Karen Campbell is not an author I will be looking out for in the future.

This is a gripping novel, with a cast of many rich and complex characters. It is best read in a few goes, otherwise I found you lose track of who is who. Harlan Coben deals very well with complex issues of youth and parents, while weaving a tale of drugs, suicide and the ills of a modern life. This is a very well crafted novel and draws you into the life and struggles of Mike Baye and his struggle to hold his family together. It is tense and gripping and the action flows from page to page. A great novel. if read over a short time.

#1 bestselling author Harlan Coben has become an unstoppable force in suspense fiction. His most recent novel, The Woods, spent more time on the New York Times bestseller list than his previous books and sales reached his highest levels to date. His latest page-turner, which is about just how far parents will go to protect their kids, is destined for the top of every bestseller list.
Tia and Mike Baye never imagined they’d become the type of overprotective parents who spy on their kids. But their sixteen-year-old son Adam has been unusually distant lately, and after the suicide of his classmate Spencer Hill—the latest in a string of issues at school—they can’t help but worry. They install a sophisticated spy program on Adam’s computer, and within days are jolted by a message from an unknown correspondent addressed to their son: “Just stay quiet and all safe.”
Meanwhile, browsing through an online memorial for Spencer put together by his classmates, Betsy Hill is struck by a photo that appears to have been taken on the night of her son’s death . . . and he wasn’t alone. She thinks it is Adam Baye standing just outside the camera’s range; but when Adam goes missing, it soon becomes clear that something deep and sinister has infected their community. For Tia and Mike Baye, the question they must answer is this: When it comes to your kids, is it possible to know too much?
Clive Cussler gets our feet wet yet again. A good old romper stomper of an action novel. The villian is straight of of James Bond and adds a nice light touch to a gripping read. ~ The Navigator blends past and present to weave a novel of depth and interest. This is a book that holds your attention from page one. There are a few soft (stupid) bits but these are far out weighed by the rest of the book. This is a light hearted read, a bit flat at times, but good fun never the less. An ideal summer read, that wont tax the mind to much
